Of course we can disagree. I want you to make your argument, and persuade me on its merits. Shall we shift the focus of this post? Let's talk about gossip. What it is, and how this case applies. I read a post, got a high emotional reaction from it, and posted a link so others in the community could see it. I suppose that action alone could be argued as gossipy no matter the content. Here is my face-value synopsis...Said post was the first and only one in the blog. The writer appeared to be the angry spouse of an Senior Sizzle member who had hijacked the account and then began a blog. The spouse claimed the profile to be a bunch of lies, and portrayed the member to be a scumbag who was cheating on his pregnant wife (the writer). My very first reaction when I read this post, was "here we go again". Somebody wasn't careful and a family member hijacked the account. This is what can happen to any married member who is on this site on the sly. A lesson to all members. Not a value judgement on the actual words in the post. I would argue that this is a positive use of "gossip". An alert, if you will. My next feeling was more personal, an emotional reaction to the words on the post. The "train wreck" I referred to earlier. I admit I realized that some bloggers would be attracted to this for that reason alone. I suppose that is a negative use of "gossip". So, what is gossip? Blog-gossip that is. Can you define the parameters as it would relate to blogging? What would be acceptable to you? As for the black pot, I'm glad you brought that up. I should tell you that I regretted that comment shortly after posting it. If you like, I will go back to that post and publicly retract, then apologize for it. If it can be arranged, I would be happy to meet when you pass through.
