Men Chase, Women Choose - Part 1. Am I just a little bit unPC?

Oh yes, there I go again - such a bad lad I yam. "Men Chase, Women Choose?" In this, the Post-Feminist Age? Forsooth! Again I say, forsooth! Perish the politically incorrect thought!

Sorry , but on this topic, not only am I very unPC but I am also very, very correct. Eons of biological evolution and our hard wired genes dictate that men chase, and women choose. And nowhere is that more obvious that on Senior Sizzle.

Let's look at some hard data to evaluate this hypothesis, shall we?

On Sunday, January 21, 2007 I clicked on the "Get Local" link on the Senior Sizzle Homepage, and browsed in the combined profiles for Southern Maryland, aka St Mary's and Calvert Counties by Senior Sizzle's way of reckoning these things. Some of the numbers are astounding, and the implications will both heartily discourage guys, but also offer up some hope; and in some ways utterly astound the women! Read on to discover more.

On the date above in the counties listed, there were 4,390 Men Seeking Women, and 411 Women Seeking Men. That is a ratio of 10.7 men for every 1 woman on Senior Sizzle.

(As an aside, the 2005 estimated Census population in St Mary's and Calvert Counties was 184,443, about 64.6% of whom were between the ages of 18 and 65. This means that roughly 7.4% of the mating age male population in Southern Maryland is on Senior Sizzle. Incredible! Senior Sizzle has achieved a full blown "network effect" in online dating.)

And how about that 10.7 guys for every girl? Why, Senior Sizzle must be a veritable paradise for the ladies, better by far than even that Beach Boys song, "Surf City" - a guy heaven with two girls for every boy! Snort! Guffaw! Contemptuous Cackle! Yeah, OK. I won't harp on that topic any more. Refer to a previous blog entry of mine, "Drat those cursed HNGs!", about the reality of Senior Sizzle for women. It ain't no paradise, let's just say that.

But is it all that good for the guys either? I mean, with almost 11 guys for every woman, the competition amongst all the guys for the few available females must be unbelievably fierce. And only 411 Women Seeking Men is an awfully low number, especially when compared to some other numbers. How about 312 Women Seeking Women, or 318 Men seeking Men. Holy Cow! There are almost as many men and<b> women seeking </font></b>homosexual liaisons as there are women looking for guys on Senior Sizzle. This would seem to make Senior Sizzle a very discouraging place for the red blooded, All American hetero guy, but mayhaps a deeper look into the numbers reveals a bit more.
