Vaginas are Self-Cleaning Organs

While it's always a good idea to keep good hygiene, going to such great extents as douching are not necessary and, in fact, are now considered unhealthy since they introduce unnatural ingredients like antiseptics to the vagina.
These ingredients disrupt the pH and flora among other things, making them known causes for yeast infections as well as a host of other health issues. The vagina is intelligent enough to discard old cells and more from the vagina on a regular basis.

Itching Doesn't Always Mean a Yeast Infection

Most women at some point in their lives may experience vaginal itching or irritation. Although these symptoms have the potential to be a yeast infection, it's not always the case.
Other causes of vaginal itching include bacterial vaginosis, certain types of STDs like Chlamydia or even just a chemical irritation resulting from douches or contraceptives. To be sure what's causing the irritation, make an appointment with your doctor or gynecologist.

Not all Discharge is Normal

In order to clean itself, every healthy vagina produces discharge. This is similar to how saliva cleanses the mouth. Normal discharge should be clear, slightly yellowish or even cloudy white.
You may notice slight changes in your discharge depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle. If your discharge is thick and white, has a fishy odor or greenish, you should contact your doctor.
Especially if it's accompanied by any itching or discomfort in the vaginal area.

Your Lady Parts Need Exercise Too

Squeezing the pelvic floor muscles repetitively, on a regular basis (preferably daily), means giving your pelvic floor its very own workout. Making a habit of doing Kegel exercises may mean lowering your risks of developing cystocele (bladder prolapse), as well as urinary incontinence.
Kegels and even vagina weights can be especially helpful for women who've just given birth or who are experiencing urinary incontinence.

Pubic Hair Actually Does Serve a Purpose

It's shocking, yes because most view their pubic hair as nothing more than a nuisance that takes time and pain to remove. But the truth is, pubic hair did serve a purpose. One theory is that the hair locks in the sexual pheromones, which can increase desire in the opposite sex.
Others believe it was meant to keep our genitals warm. Many advocate leaving public hair alone, as frequent waxing and shaving can irritate and create microscopic wounds which breed bacteria and infection.

Peeing After Sex

It's a good practice to use the restroom after intercourse, even if you don't feel the particular urge to go. Urinating helps to flush out infection-causing bacteria that can cause urinary tract infections.
If you can't use the restroom, at least take a short shower or wipe down with water or tissues.

Your Diet Can Affect the Odor

You may think that that you cannot have any impact over the smell of your vagina, but that's not the case. There are several factors that can impact your scent. Strong, heavily scented or spiced foods can change your vaginal odor.
Incorporating more whole grains, fruit and veggies can help make the smell less pungent. If you start smelling something foul or fishy, you probably want to speak to your doctor.
