Was that funny? Yes it Was! I know it wasn't that funny really, but it seemed it to me at the time. I wondered, fleetingly, if it meant I had been blogging here too long. But no, that just means I have a place to share the joke. I was out having a drink with a friend. Not a really close friend, but a guy I know through work, and we get on pretty well. But on this occasion he was being a bit emotional, because his twenty year old has been living away from home, and he was telling me what great Christmas presents he had sent back. First he told me about the great letter he'd received, then explained how he'd obviously really put some thought into the presents. He gave his mother some beautiful earrings he told me. And then he said, totally straight faced, "He gave his sister a<b> pearl </font></b>necklace." I was utterly speechless. He chattered on, totally unaware of what he had just said. I was almost dying inside trying to keep a straight face and not laugh - he obviously had no idea what he had said, and if I'd laughed I would have had to explain, and then suddenly that wouldn't have been funny at all!!! It was so funny though, kind of the way he said it so dead-pan as well. You had to be there. But if you had been there, we would have taken one glance at each other and burst out laughing for sure. In fact I would have ended up ROTFLMFAO, if that really is possible. |

Sorry E. I knew you were not keen on bodily fluids, I should have put a warning spoiler at the top! Opinion seems to vary amongst straight women: some love it, some hate it, and it also seems to depend quite a lot on the man in question too. It is not, however, at all like vomit, lol. It's not supposed to pass between brother and sister though.

I thought that was hilarious and then I read E's phrase "pecker vomit"!!!!!  The other night my girlfriend told her husband to help my husband with his wood..... after we all picked ourselves up from laughing she explained she was talking about the FIREwood!

There are many expressions used here and similar places that have non-sexual counterparts. That one is a classic! Next time you are on the verge of boredom in company, try playing innuendo bingo. Count how many ordinary everyday words and terms can be misconstrued.

"Wood" is always a dangerous word in non-sexually fixated company, although I think less so in Britain, where it isn't as much used to mean erection as it is in the US. I can see why that was funny though!
