My Top Gear Two Cents worth

Was out last Friday night with some friends and I had bumped into this guy I have an on/off relationship with. He's this guy from my old workplace that I had a thing with. ANyways, I haven't seen or spoke to him since shortly before last Christmas. So bumped into him and found out he bought himself a new Porsche. I attributed it to mid-life crisis

So he got himself a new toy and asked if he could give me a ride, which was good timing too cos I had already made plans for later into the night. It was a black Porsche. Ok, I'm not exactly sure what the model is but it was fast, that is IF we could manage a long stretch of road given traffic conditions here. It was a nice enough ride, considering I have never rode in one til this point.

The main gripe I have is, its not even that comfortable. Its fast, but its not the fastest car I've driven in. It's low and the seats are kinda leaning back an angle...if you know what I mean. Which is kind of...I'm struggling to find an appropriate word here...inconvenient, especially cos I was in a pretty short skirt. I mean, you really can't cover up in that seat, kinda like sitting in a really low beanbag. Flashing everyone everytime I get in and out of the car is one thing, but those seats can't be good for your back right? I'm just assuming...

I guess all that leads down to a heck of a lot of money to throw for a ride that is not too comfy...then again, if you have that kinda cash..

Oh well, just my top gear, two-cents worth

nice account from a top gear perspective... in fact that's my fav motoring prog... fact and [british] humor combined makes it all more interesting..

agree to all you mentioned abt a porsche... the bucket seats are good when you are taking long trip speeding but not suitable for the local roads i reckon... overall, its just pretty uncomfortable even for a guy... reckon it just needs to getting used to but not for me though...

anyway, your fren wont be complaining esp when you are in your short skirt in his porche..
Bucket seats!! Riiiight...thats what their called. He mentioned it but I just can't seem to remember the term. Bucket seats...guess they DO feel like you're sitting in a bucket.

Now that is what they call made for speed not for comfort.

I once got a ride to drop me off at the airport in one by a business associate about 30 years ago and I can still remember the agony....I am a 6 footer which makes it worse.

But then we all have our passions, for women it is handbags, for me it's tits, for most blokes around here it is MU and then there are these petrol heads.

Sir Teezalot

WAR IS ABSURD

Ouch. I can only imagine...being a 6-footer with not much leg room. Hey, planes, trains, automobiles, gotta get enough legroom!

Thanks for sharing

when i saw "TOP GEAR", i had to read it.. hahah.
to bad THE STIG had to spoil all the fun n mystery with his book..

anyway, most of cars like those are not meant to be all comfy.. looks like u lean more to luxury than sports cars.

You, Me n some liquid for a start. How does that sound?

from the snug and tight fit described, it sounds like a boxster or cayman... well, the most 'comfortable' place to be in on a sporty or performance-oriented ride is no doubt the driver's seat. same logic works across the entire spectrum of wheels - from your 'humble' mini cooper S to the vulgar excess of the bugatti veyron. anyway, definitions of 'comfort', however subjective they may be, need not be totally incompatible with popular notions of what makes a good driver's car.

haha, i'd venture to add that a short ride might not be the best way to assess the coziness or exhilaration of any drive in the first place, but i suppose first impressions do count too. anyway, porsche does have a couple of models catering to the whims and needs of those more inclined towards space and luxury in the form of the panamera and the best-selling cayenne. there you have it...the snob appeal of a premium european brand, together with all the luxury, 'sport' and 'utility' you'll ever needed... not sure if these more ample 'babies' are exactly the panacea for a midlife crisis though...
