A Radler is a variety of shandy made with sparkling lemonade You remember those rainy days when you were a when you couldn't build a campfire , so you toasted your brie over a light bulb ? You were a freakin' weird . The other day at work I saw a couple holding hands as they walked around the building and if I had a rock I would have thrown it at them - which is why I no longer carry rocks . Holding hands in public , outrageous I say ! What would the city fathers think ? I noticed today that gayfriendfinder says "find hot men" or something like that , what about gay women ? Where's the fuck site for them ? When I was in college my sociology professor said that gay dudes and getting down 24/7 and gay gals never get busy which I remember thinking didn't seem very respectful of diversity but a lot of people seem to think that . Perhaps there's some truth to it . You know what really annoys me (besides everything) ? When on a show they have a bit that should clearly be in another language but they don't want to have subtitles so they just have the dialog in accented English . That drives me insane . French people don't hang around France speaking accented English , they speak French - I would rather just have them speak "normally" if they're not going to bother being "authentic" anyway . It's like when they have sex<b> scenes </font></b>on network TV or basic cable - if you're noting going to show me something don't even bother . Half measures , I hate 'em . A million years ago someone blogged a blog about the most (intentionally for humor) awkward sex<b> scenes </font></b>in movies and everyone agreed the one at the beginning of Bridesmaids was the king . But I think Jason Bateman and Kathryn Hanhn might have it beat in Bad Words . Hilarious . I used to have a plethora of Canadian blog friends but they're all gone now and I found out why today - they're dead . Everyone in Canada is . Turns out their healthcare system doesn't work at all and everyone just dies all the time . Makes it hard to fathom how they're ranked the 9th healthiest country in the world . Did you know Singapore is #2 ? Why does that surprise me ? Racism ? This came up because as I was complaining about US healthcare (as I often do) I said I should move to Canada not because of trump but just see what their healthcare is like and people all flipped out like they always do when you mention a country with socialized medicine . It's like a Pavlovian response - it doesn't even seem rational . Now , I don't know anything about socialized medicine and I don't pretend to , I just know that everyone seems to agree that US healthcare is the shits and yet if you say any other country (except Sweden) has better healthcare people kick you in the dick all day long . What I do know is that the UK is ranked 5th as most healthy countries and the US is 28th . Now some dumb wrestling stuff I watched a Randy "Macho Man" Savage retrospective the other day which was great - until the end when they had stupid Hulk Hogan on . In typical Hulk Hogan fashion all he did was talk about how he could have saved Savage's life if only Savage had listened to him and gotten this test he begged him to take . Which is the kind of self aggrandizing bullshit for which he's famous . Hulk Hogan has been eclipsed by Steve Austin and the Rock in terms of popularity and cultural significance but without his contribution to the world of wrestling their success probably never would have been possible . He's probably the most important figure in wrestling history . And I cannot for the life of me figure out why . He could never work with a shit . His promos were insane . And his character was boring as hell . And it's not like he was ever even handsome - the dude looked like shaved orangutan even back then . Add to that by all accounts he appears to be a real piece of shit and you have to wonder - what happened there ?  I was musing about this recently and someone explained it . They said "It the was the 80's nothing made sense , a lot of people were on coke ." Which seems to check out . People like to rip on pretty much every decade , but honestly was there one more berserk than the 1980s ? Now for the boring part . 40 , that was all boring ! Okay , now for the super boring part . On November 9th , I noticed poor internet service , mostly lots of buffering during streaming , then to the point that streaming services threw up error codes about not being connected . I quickly tested my internet with speed tester website #45 and it showed a 2-3 MB download speed . This is slower than what A.) I have had in the past and B.) What I am paying for. I have 12MB service through Centurylink . The speed test was done on my tablet over wi-fi, so I would expect at least 7MB not directly connected to the modem and not the full 10-12MB that I normally receive . Every once in a while I would test the speed from my tablet for fun (Fig. 2 – Internet speed tests Source: speedtest.net via tablet over wi-fi 11/10 – 11/18 ). I give Centurylink a call and they walk me through all of their standard troubleshooting . After slogging through this process the analyst recommends a technician onsite . The earliest a technician can come out is Nov. 11th , sometime between 8 and noon . I take the day off work and 1:00 p.m. rolls around so I call them up . The analyst on the phone tells me that a technician will should show up around 1:15 p.m . I mention that it was current 1:15 and I am assured that the technician will be on time . I wait around for the time traveling technician but nobody shows up . At around 6:00 p.m. that day I get an email from Centurylink that my service has been restored . So I get on my speed tester website #45 hard-wired to the modem and service is still hovering around 2-4MB download . I reboot my modem and I’m back to full speed for a few hours , then it goes back to being slow . I run some diagnostics and test some settings on the modem but this only fixes it for a few hours , then back to poor download speed s. In diagnostics, I notice I am getting ATM encapsulation errors (I am running PPPoE, so I’m not sure it is even using ATM) . I shouldn’t have to know this to be a customer , in any case . So I deal with bad internet for the weekend , thinking I will call MediaCom on Monday Nov. 14th so I can start with a fresh , new shitty service provider . On Monday , Nov. 14th I get a call from Centurylink stating that a technician will be at my house on the 15th between 8 and noon .I get a updated message with updated arrival times of noon-4p.m . By this time , my internet service has improved , but still requires about 1 reboot per day . No technician called me, and nobody showed up . I chat with MediaCom online about internet packages and get the information I need . The package I want is not available online and I cannot waive the rental fees online either. On Tuesday, Nov. 15th, I get an email from Centurylink that my service has been restored. So I get on my speed tester website #45 hard wired and service has improved (8-9MB ) but again degrades later in the evening . On Tuesday , I also call MediaCom to setup new internet service . I sign up for 50 MB service with a 350MB usage limit per cycle, and they setup installation for Monday , Nov. 21st . They charge me 39.99 monthly for the first year , the modem rental fee (which they will waive once the technician confirms I have my own cable modem) and installation fees . Total amount 117 bucks that includes the first month of service . Between Wednesday and Nov. 21st internet is working without too many issues . I cannot perceive an issue when using the internet normally . A MediaCom contracted technician showed up yesterday and had to run a cable from the pole to my house , then they attempted to provision service on my cable modem with MediaCom on the phone . It worked for nearly 30 seconds , then the cable modem bricked . I could not get to it at all. The technician worked with support and I hear “this is his own cable modem?” in a surprised tone . After superficial troubleshooting , it was determined to be a “hardware issue” with my cable modem and suggested that I rent a certified one from MediaCom for the low rate of 5 bucks monthly plus 4 bucks to enable wi-fi monthly . I asked the technician to ask support if they attempted to push firmware to my router and nobody could answer that question . So , for testing purposes , he tested one of the MediaCom rental cable modems , which provisioned fine , but when I ran speed tester #45, I was only getting 1MB download . The technician pulled up speed tester #98 (which I was told was more accurate) and got the same result . He called back into support , waiting 15 minutes , and finally got another analyst who stated the work ticket needed to be closed before speeds would increase . He completed the ticket , with no change in download speeds . The analyst stated that since the ticket was closed , the customer (me) would need to call support (see what they did there? Baller move) So I asked the technician to take the MediaCom router with him and to leave (politely) . He was a good technician , but MediaCom was not giving him the support he needed to make it work . Then his car wouldn’t start , so I had to help him and his supervisor get it jumped. Today I cancelled my service with MediaCom after being a customer less than 24 hours . They will issue a refund for the full 117 bucks in the form of a check that will take a few weeks to arrive in my mailbox . Centurylink service is working fine . After a reboot last night I pulled in 10MB wired into the modem , and watched Westworld without any issues . Tomorrow I will return the cable modem I purchased to Best Buy . In conclusion this is the kind of ATM I like ; Ah man I can't even post a picture to complete the joke , ass to mouth is gross . Putting first by putting employees first, immediately after prioritizing fiscal responsibilities and leveraging profitability towards exceeding by empowering our employees to put (and themselves) first, in a diverse and respectful environment of only those that come first, first. |

In conclusion, trying to get decent internet sucks. For what it's worth, there are frequent debates on the website for my neighborhood about Comcast vs. CenturyLink, and CenturyLink seems to have the slight edge for being the worstest.

Well that's better then the DSL service I get and when I call the ISP they say to call the phone company and the phone company says to call the ISP and they both say they will charge for the service call unless it is their problem and the ISP wants to sell me another modem. I do think I'll call the cable company in December and hopefully they will be better. Vive La Difference
