The Adventures of Fuckleberry Hinn

Social engineering trick of the day - "Well actually . . . ."

The scammer makes a statement that is mostly correct , but intentional says one thing wrong . The victim will correct this error giving away something that should have remained secret . This an especially potent trick because people love to point out when someone else is wrong . The most effective cons are the ones were you use people's worst selves against them .

As you all know since I have no faith in Social Security and very little in my 401k I've been trying to come up with an investment plan . An article I read today claims that over the past 15 years Lego's have outperformed pretty much any other "investment" . It states that the average Lego set has increased 12% in value , which is pretty astounding (if true) . The reason (in theory) is that all sets are retired at some point , and several hundred are retired each year a movie run ends , a license expires or the Lego company wants to refresh its range . The Harry Potter sets and Star Wars draw the most of course . Its basically the same as my theory on Magic cards and yet it would be silly to plan your retirement on things like this right ? Although so called "outside the box thinking" (if it can so be called) is how SOME people manage to retire so early right ? Its like a puncher's chance .

Speaking of 401k when I started at my job I changed my distribution immediately so I wouldn't be investing anything in company stock . Today out of curiosity I looked up how much they send to company stock as the standard - 43% ! That's a pretty good scam for a big corporation , take 6% of your payroll and invest it back into yourself . I mentioned this to some of my co-workers and there was a flurry of activity as people tried to change their 401k contributions . Which probably means the stock price will go down . Which means if you figured out who I work for you should sells yours . Which is insider trader . Have fun in prison bitch !

In college I learned this ;

Dumb investing - You think a product is well made so you buy 100 shares of stock in the company that makes it

Smart investing - You know the company that makes said product has unsustainable pension obligations so you buy put options on its bonds triggering a credit downgrade and the company's bankruptcy .

100% legal , no prison for you bitch ! You can make it a naked put if you want , it sounds sexy . But isn't . At all .

I'm a wordie , I like words , I dislike when people misuse them or only use a limited variety of them . I love learning new words . But it occurred to me that it doesn't even really matter does it ?

If someone says "I take it for granite" instead of "for granted"

Or "Can you advice on this" instead of "advise"

Or "mute point" instead of "moot point"

Or "Cease the day" instead of "seize"

They said "wrong" but took in the information they were trying to communicate correctly so really what difference does it make ? I mean it enrages me (what doesn't ?) but the point of words is to communicate so if that's happened what's my problem ? Isn't speech mostly contextual anyway ? Specially I think about this - my friends and are all semi-intelligent people with decent vocabularies but we've played games together for so long sometimes this will happen ;

Its your turn Stevie

I do the stuff to the thing

Which conveys zero information on the surface , but we all know what he's saying because we know the situation , we know Stevie , and we know what he's done 19,000 time before . So do words really matter ? I hope so , but I fear not .

In that same vein one other thing that annoys me is inaccurate family histories - but again who cares ? If someone wants to pretend their great-great-great-grand uncle sucked Napoleon's dick how does that hurt anyone ? I have several people in my family that are really into genealogy and family history and they have accused me for taking delight in proving their stories wrong but I just want things to be the truth if we're going to talk about them . But really , what's the difference ? If it makes people feel better to pretend their ancestors were all kings and dukes and popes and heroic freedom fighters why would I rain on their parade with the truth ? I personally think its disrespectful because a lot of the true stories are actually really interesting but people watch the flash and sizzle .

Do you like art ? Well you shouldn't , you should be afraid of it . Art is the first sign of symbolic thinking , and symbolic thinking is where all the problems come from . Lots of good stuff comes from it to , don't get me wrong , but without symbolic thinking everything would be cool .

I complain about being poor sometimes and if a poorer person heard that it would probably annoy them . I experienced that today when a friend of mine who has a 400k house and a lakehouse that costs 3 times as much as my house was whining about being poor and it irked me . Its a sliding scale . People like to complain you know . Its like my great aunt (who totally banged JFK) used to say "everyone gets the same cup in life but they all claim theirs tastes the worst" .

Do vegans suck cock ? How about Vegans ? Although I guess they wouldn't be called Vegans , we're not called Solians after all . But since we can't even see planets in other solar systems to name them I guess Vegans it is .

Words matter. Poor wording or incorrect usage may be understandable to some but it does open said poor worder to disdain from the good worders and so the gulf between have-smarts and the no-smarts uncreases.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I see what you did there, superbj.

My pet word peeve is when someone writes, "that really peaked my interest".

I would never ever claim to be poor, but I do think of myself as "middle class" which might cause some lower middle class people to look askance at me.
