Criminal-minded people SUCK.

It's been a crazy week.

My water pump on Greybrd went out Monday. I *knew* it was having issues, or rather *felt* it was, but was waiting for my dad to work on fixing the other items and get it taken care of at that time. Sadly he keeps having to reschedule. The really crazy thing is it broke less than 2 hours after I had my oil change done. Half the reason I went where I did is they do an inspection at the same time. Or used to, but it seems they don't anymore regardless of what their coupons say.

Tuesday my apartment manager gave me a ride to work at 6am, and when she got home at 6:30am - a man attacked her. Her had just started teaching her self defense so she was able to break free, smash his knee with a flashlight she luckily had on hand, and called 911 and told them she had a gun on him so they'd get there faster. He was arrested.

The same guy tried stealing my bike last week but was seen and chased off.

Apparently there's a Spokane Valley car theft ring (among other things they steal) and we've had 2 men arrested the past 3 weeks on our property, a few seen prowling the complex, and there is apparently a thing now of knocking on doors in the middle of the night and if the door is opened they push their way in.

Somebody knocked on a neighbors back door just after midnight last week... then tried jiggling and yanking on the door. She screamed, grabbed her new baby and ran out the front door to the (armed) next door neighbors apartment.

Last night I woke up to a knock on my front door. No: I didn't open it... I truly didn't know if I dreamt it or it really happened. My apartment manager checked the apartment surveillance video this morning and there really was somebody at my door around 1:20am. The video has been submitted to the police.

Years and years of quiet and peaceful, and suddenly it goes crazy. We now have motion lights, surveillance cameras, the single women (about half our complex, or at least 1/3) strongly urged to not go outside after dark unless we call one of the guys on the complex to walk us out or otherwise make sure we're safe.

It feels a bit like we're going back to the Wild West and Individual/Vigilante Justice. Shoot first, ask questions later.

And no, it wasn't my former FWB that knocked last night. I texted and verified. And my apt mgr thinks it was a female this time. Or a long-haired male. All conveniently crunched down in a hoodie.

So glad it's almost weekend... I desperately need a good night's sleep.

Stuff like that really suck. I know, I've had my car stolen from in front of my house ( imagine going outside to go to work and there is only broken glass where you parked your car ) That was several years ago.
More recently I've had nice looking planters full of flowers taken from off my front porch in the middle of the night. That was just before Mothers' Day a couple years ago. what kind of scumbag would feel good about giving Mom stolen flowers ?

Issue 1 ... You've been around cars long enough to know that like any mechanical device it can be working perfectly and a second later something can fail. So ... you can't really fault the shop for not detecting a water pump failure unless it was obviously making noise.

Issue 2 ... Might you consider taking self defense courses? You can put all the locks you want on a door but that means nothing when you're out in the open.

I have heard it's getting worst out her in the valley. You better be very careful since it is getting darker earlier!

That's all very disturbing and depressing. Make sure you have a network to watch out for one another.

So sorry you have to experience this.

I think you should consider moving, maybe start looking at places. Crime has been falling since the early 90s. There have to be many safer neighborhoods.

1: True enough. Except if it was making noise enough that *I* strongly suspected it was the water pump. AND the "coolant low" light was constantly on. Even had they not noted anything else: had they done the inspection they would have noted THAT. And I *KNOW* they are not doing the inspections like they used to. Too long to go into - but essentially this visit with my grey car proved what I suspected the last 2 times with my red car. Though family has been warning me away from this particular auto shop for a few years, and I've heard rumor even mechanics with the same chain in other parts of town tell friends not to go to the one I went to.

2: :\ Yeah, I suppose I better. Though I've taken some basic ones over the years, and have had some private lessons.

That is bad. With the holidays coming in few months, it will get worst. I live in a quiet neighborhood but I do keep an eye out.
Here in Texas, some will shoot through the door if someone comes knocking late at night. One calls or texts before coming over. Most of the time, criminals will just knock the door open.
Take care and be safe,

Cum to my blog and respond. Have a great kissing fun time.

If you can afford to....MOVE!!!!

It's gotten quiet again. I can't afford to And for sure can't afford to in someplace as nice atmosphere wise. Quiet neighbors, no screaming kids, no domestic abuse, no drunken parties, fields nearby my cat can run and play in. Bunnies that run and play in the yard. A garden patch. Library right across the street. Nobody above or below me (it's only 1 level). And 1 block away from 2 major city streets and bus lines, though it truly does not sound or feel like it.
