F.E.M.A. Me Baby!

For those of you not paying attention to the news, Oklahoma has been declared a disaster area. All 77 counties of this state got severely sacked by an ice storm. In the Tulsa metro area over a quarter million people are without electricity.

How bad is it ? Well i won't say it's like Katrina bad, but it's the worst devastation this state has ever seen.

There is not a tree in this town that hasn't dropped branches, tons of people have power lines down in their backyards, they're across roadways. Trees falling on houses and cars and blocking roads. It looks like an ice glazed war zone out there.

In tulsa, there are more people without power then there are with power. My house took some damage, but it's mostly cosmetic. There's a small hole in my roof shingles , and my phone line got hit by a falling branch and pulled the vinyl siding off the house that it was under, the old wood siding is exposed. Like i said, nothing major. It's not like I got a branch in my living room.

Depending on where the break in my electric circuit is, it may be several days before I see power come back on.

A friend of mine was kind enough to take myself and my in until the crisis has past. They still have power.

Stores shelves (where you can find an open store) are picked clean of anything that resembles a convenience food, battery, camping gear, etc. As a matter of fact, i grabbed the second to last box of powdered milk at Reasor's.

Anyone got a chainsaw and generator they'd like to deliver ?

i spend my day walking through neiborhoods and have seen just about everything, but i can say that most of what i have seen is downed limbs, just a few damaged houses and a few side view mirrors k.o.'d. fenced have bit the dust and a few streets completely blocked
but as the rain has stopped people are starting to come out and start the cleanup, i suggest everybody that is able to grab their chainsaws or help someone that does and let's get restored
if you get it to the curb the city will pick it up, someday

when we went to checotah to see my dad this summer the devastation from the january ice storm was still visually apparent. it was like macintosh county had an above ground A bomb go off and half-level all the trees everywhere you could see.

it's crazy. y'all take care!

*sending warm thoughts*
