Late HNW & Holiday Cheer Lulu Style! Sorry HNW is late. I decided to post an old picture of myself. I modeled for a while (no nothing fancy just hands, hair and uniforms mostly). I thought all but one of my professional shots had been burned by my dad in a fit of rage many years ago. My GF Deb and ex-step- Scott returned a box they had inadvertently wound up with when SS & I divorced. The top of the box had pictures of the boys but underneath were all mine and I was thrilled to find about 6 packs of photos from 3 shots I did to build my portfolio. Since several people are posting high school pictures, which I don’t have any of. I decided to post this instead. I just really haven’t been feeling the holiday spirit much this year. Lots of our normal traditions aren’t happening because for the 1st time ever I won’t be home or with Lil Bit for Christmas. Next week we are headed west for me to meet the Viking clan and will be out there until almost New Year’s. We aren’t putting up a Christmas tree at all since we’ll be gone and I don’t trust my house/pet sitter to water a tree and keep the pack of dogs from eating all my lights and ornaments. The Christmas stockings won’t go up until the day we get back from the same fear. We are opening presents this Sunday since that will be the last time we have Lil Bit until we get back. Her Santa presents will be waiting for her when we get back and pick her up. This Friday is Lil Bit’s class Christmas party which yours truly got to organize and supervise as classroom mom. The class is making cards for soldiers overseas, photo frames with pictures of themselves to take home to parents and a snowflake ornament. We are having hot coco, cookies and cupcakes while watching Polar Express and they get a jingle bell necklace at the end of the day. I have my box of crafts, cups, napkins and plates ready. I just finished writing the letters to go along with the ’ cards to the soldiers and sent out the email reminding parents about the party and to let the wear their pajamas to school Friday if they wanted to. I’m a bit pissed that none of the parents offered to help offset the $43 I spent on the crafts and party<b> supplies </font></b>or the cost to mail off the cards. They are lucky I have the Viking or this shit wouldn’t be happening on my old budget! The holiday rush in on for us from that point on. After her class party we are going to a local museum the Viking graciously promised to take Lil Bit to see. Saturday he has to get some last minute packing, moving and rearranging done. We will probably go to a movie that night. Sunday will be a cook-a-thon to prepare for my mom’s side of the family’s Christmas party. The 3 of us are opening presents before we go. Our parties are always fun. We have to drop Lil Bit back to her dad afterwards. We have to be packed and ready to fly out the next morning, which means that cards, letters and bills have to be mailed, the house semi-cleaned and stocked with plenty of animal food and goodies to sustain them while we are gone. I haven’t even finished wrapping presents or started packing for the trip yet. I also have to pack a bag for Lil Bit because my mom and step-dad are going to have her for a couple of days while I’m gone and she needs warm clothes for the trip they are making. Can you tell I’m stressing out a bit?...lol I’m excited about the trip and meeting the Viking’s family but also pretty damn nervous. I broke down and let him handle the Christmas presents for his family. I’m very afraid that means there won’t be any, which is soooo not my style and not the 1st impression I want to make. I know it’ll all work out but I’m a worry wart and these things bother me. Plus there’s the stress of what to pack because we don’t really have any set plans and I don’t know what clothes I’ll need. A little holiday cheer to brighten my mood was in order and what better to cheer me up than a family trip to the capital ending with a visit to Lulu’s! Yep, I’m very excited to be planning a trip for after New Year’s with Lil Bit in tow to take her to see the sights of our nation’s capital. She’s never been on any big trip other than to Fla to visit my mom and to Disney. Not that Disney isn’t big or a trip, it just is not the same as seeing the national monuments and museums. I’ve only been to DC 3 times in my life and I’ve really loved it every single time. This time will be extra special since it will be with my Viking and our first trip as a family. It will also be Lil Bit’s last time with him for a long time. I’ll get to see him up until the spring but I seriously doubt she will. Plus I am a planner by nature and I love planning trips. We are going to spend a day touring the mall and museums and then go to a huge ice sculpture exhibit. Of course getting to see my BFF is a major bonus. Seriously, I couldn’t go to DC and not stop in to see her. I also happen to love her little slice of hometown. It’s a very interesting mix of northeastern and southern coastal culture. Its small town but so close to big city that it’s still lots of fun. We’ll have a few days of exploring the sights in DC and then the weekend at Lulu’s before Lil Bit and I trek back home. Beautiful picture, thank you for sharing! So glad that a piece of your past was returned to you...so many of my memories and mementos were taken by varied Ex's through the years. There seems to be a lot of people not feeling the holiday spirit this year. Myself included. Hopefully that will change for most of use soon. Have fun on the trip. And give Lulu a big hug for me will you.  I hope Lil Bit enjoys the trip. DC is really an interesting city. Not that I would want to live there.  And I have to ask. Is that hair in the picture real? I guess I'm just used to seeing you with short hair. Not that either looks bad on you my friend.
