Sex Offenders Living in your Community.

Here we go again.........

Yesterday, I get ANOTHER letter from the town I live in advising all residents about another sexual predator that moved into our community. Mind you, there's one that already lives 2 streets away from me, another one that lives around the corner from us and a few others scattered throughout the area. The area I live in is full of . A few playgrounds and school parks, near schools,etc...

Here's a copy of the letter thats been sent:

Dear residents:

This letter is being sent to notify you of an important, yet highly sensitive subject concerning the safety of our . Under the provisions of NYS Sex Offender Registration Act,also known as "Megans Law," police agencies may release information to school districts about certain registered sex offenders living in the community.

The (_________________________)(towns name not revealed on this site-due to childrens safety.) Police department has notified the school districts that this particular sex offender is now residing in your area. He is classified as a level "3" which means the risk to the community is considered extremely dangerous.

Now, at the bottom of this letter, they show a picture of what he looks like, only the zip code of his address, his D.O.B, race, height, weight, color of eyes/hair, Glasses-No, and ethnic origin-Not Hispanic
....and continued on describing that his "VICTIM" was a 15 yr.old female. 3rd degree !

Considering I have a young age , I need to know more than this...and WHY is he allowed to live so close to a school? and playgrounds? and in a community that this town is very well known to have a large amount of -particularly teenagers- HIS VICTIMS!

Last winter, one of my daughters friends walked home from our house. Unfortunately, she called me not even seconds after she left from her cell phone, crying and very scared! She continued to tell me that someone in a black pick up truck was following her very slowly and she felt like he was watching where she went.I stayed on the phone with her as I told her to come back to the house. As she was doing that, the truck turned around, drove past her slowly and stopped at the corner, just waiting.By that time, I was already outside watching her walk back to my house and saw everything.(I live on a corner lot) I wroye down the ;license plate number and had the plate checked for his address and name,etc...
Come to find out, yep! He was one of the many sexual predators that lived in my area.-also and Level 3. This is the one that lives 2 blocks away from my home.I did contact the police and they proceeded to tell me things that REALLY blew my mind. He's a level 3, he lives with his girlfriend that has 3 teenage daughters.and on parole/probation.

HOW do these predators get away with this crap?
Why would he be allowed to live with a woman that has 3 teenage daughters in the same house?
Why do SCUM like that get the privelege of being around any when they are soooo much danger to any in the community?
I'm scared to let my go anywhere by herself....even if it is just a few blocks away. Its sad that we have to keep our "sheltered" to keep them safe these days.
As old as I may sound, when I was a we never had this to worry about so much!
They should have NO rights at all! ESPECIALLY being around a close knit community! They are scum- pond scum...it makes me sick to even think of the reasoning behind such a sick mind like these predators have. What kind of jolly do they get off of sexually...anything with these ?

Speaking as the sister of a convicted molester, I will tell you that the cycle starts long before they are adults. Both my brother and I were molested by the same cousin as children. Whatever weakness is in my brother prevented him from not continuing the cycle. I, on the other hand, never let it continue from me. I moved on in life. That cousin is now married and has a child. Every day, I argue with myself about calling up his wife and asking if she knows about the history of her husband. Molestation, like , isn't about sex. It's about power...and manipulation...and "getting away with it." You are very lucky to have not gone through with this as a child. It took me years to tell my parents. My mom didn't know until last month when my brother got picked up, again, for a second offense.

Keep your daughter safe so that she won't know the pain that we survivors know.

Molestors rarely think they're doing anything wrong. They're not really wired for it. I don't know why but they're not.

England is going through trying to change the law so residents will be informed or can find out if a neighbour is a sexual predator.

I totally agree with it too.

Not just because im a mum or a woman but because i do feel once a person (man or woman) has committed more than one sexual offense they are more likely to recommit.

Evidence in psychological findings back this up.

What about their privacy rights some ask...well what about everyones rights to feel safe in their own home, to be safe in their own home & when they are out.

I dont believe in vigilante attitudes though. Let the person prove they can mix with people of the community & become reformed. But..if they re offend they should be ostricated indefinitely away from society until they have undergone intense psychological reformation. But even then there is still a danger.

Tag them & make them have more than once a week/fortnight visits with a parole officer. A parole officer/social services should make spot checks on the whereabouts of the person. Not appointments...if theyre not in, sit & wait.

I think they should also be followed from time to time to make sure they are not watching children & women. Not placing themselves in 'at risk situations'.

All this isnt cost effective i know...in an ideal world.

So it boils down to our childrens & our welfare & safety becomes less important than money.

The fat cat councilors can remember that when they drive up to their expensive homes in their flash & expensive cars.

Sorry steamy you hit a nerve here babes.

If you make it feel better the President signed the Adam Walsh bill the other day. It was 25 years since he was murdered. It took that long top get that law passed.

With children you have to eyes in the back of your head and really not trust anyone to be alone with your child man or woman.

Elizabeth Smart was held by a man and his wife. So you can't be too careful.

Besr wishes

President Bush just signed the Adam Walsh bill the other day, unfortunately it was 25 yrs since his death and bless John and Reva Walsh for all there hard work to get the bill passed.

Always keep your children in site as much as they protest you can't be too carefull. Teach them not to trust anyone that asks them to go with them even if it's a neighbor or a relative.

Can't be too careful

GossipJunkie,
I am very sorry to hear you had to go through all that...til this very day also. NOBODY deserves any of it. It takes a very strong person to even talk about it,no matter how grown a person is. I give you alot of credit for that itself. I feel for you. I really do.
Can I ask you a question,though?-and you dont have to answer here,or even at all(if you feel better answering it at all, feel free to email me-even if you just need to vent) but what made you wait so long to tell your 'mother?'
Its the part I dont understand..."why" do molesters of any sort think there's nothing wrong with this sort of abuse?!
I most certainly will keep my daughter safe.-come hell or high waters....anyone hurts my daughter or even attempts in trying, it'll definately be worth me going to jail for it. Nothings held back when it comes to her...nothing.
Thank you for responding to this;as important as it is and as hard as it must've been for you through all that time, the present time and all the heartache you ever went through because of it.
~ Hugs~

Phoenix,
Yes, it does do a world of wonders just to know who is who and what that person is all about. Looks are definately deceiving.and so is a persons personality. Certain people have these (their own) ways in manipulating anyone around them. Their prey just works easier on children who are so unsure of themselves at younger ages.
As far as letting that person "prove" that they can actually be functionable with 'the real world', I disagree with you there. As far as I see it, that "predator" ALREADY proved his/herself by doing it the first time. Especially when it comes to harming any child, I say: NO MERCY!
and the money thing and the material thing you mention, I TOTALLY agree with you on that!!! I'm not one of materialistic things in life and never have been. Children always come first with me. Thats the biggest problem with the world today. It comes down to the almighty dollar.-which sucks!!!!!!

SW3,
I most certainly do remember those neighborhood watch signs on peoples doors/windows. I still see some around every now and then...but guess what? I just saw one on a residents window last winter on a CRACK HOUSE! (thats slang for a drug house..in case nobodys familiar with street talk) Aint that about a B****!!? These days, I dont trust anyone- not anyone when it comes to my daughter, or any kid.
And, youre 100% right about that guy being very big in the eyes of a small child. Very good point on that one. Is that judge too stuck on stupid to realize that or what?
I tell ya one thing, my father is a correctional officer for New York State. Some of the stories he has told us is unbeleivable. Disgusting. The other inmates HATE child molesters...but in my opinion, they deserve what they get! I dont feel sorry for them at all! They deserve to get the crap beat outta them...and again and again, too.
I did call the towns police station this morning(couldnt do much over the weekend, everything was closed) and they did direct me in the right direction as far as being more involved in the awareness of the community. They were very helpful.
Thanks for your input here! and for the nice comment to GossipJunkie.

let me preface this by stating, as a father of a teenagers, a coach, and a person who would like an hour alone in a locked room with a "true" sex offender (he/she would never sex offend again!)I am as angry and disgusted with child molestors as anyone....and ... no... luckly I am not basing my opinions here on personal experience or in defense of anyone in particular... BUT...here we go again, our hysteric paranoia drive us to the "kill 'em all" mentality. Recent laws, more driven by misguided passion and anger than honest and fair understanding that some of the now labeled "sex offeders" are NOT truely sex offenders, at least nowhere near what all of you are thinking of. By law, if an 19yr old male has sex with his 16 yr old girl friend, even if it's totaly consensual and she instigates all of it, he can be convicted of a "sex" crime. Now hold your horses... I am not advocating that 16 year old girls should have sex..(again I'm a Dad of a teenage girl) but lets be real, there are literaly thousands of 16 year olds having sex right now, right here..is it right .. no... but is it right that thier boy friends only 3 - 4 yrs older be convicted of a sex crime because that girl now hates him because he didn't call her ... NO...it's wrong on many levels...but for the boy he will forever carry that label... and NOW with the lowering of the level of "sex offenders" notification..that must be registered with the community, school systems, etc this poor 19 yr old kid, will have his name, picture, and information sent out every time he moves, he will be lumped in with the true sex offenders for life...and how many people do you think will have the desire, ability, intellegence, or compassion to differentiate this poor kid from drueling, consistently jerking off scumbag who you speak of.
So.. as all of you light up your tourches, wave your purity banners, and huddle your children under your skirts, just remember MaCarthism is not dead, it just now focuses on sex. The laws have been driven to the extreme because of this mob mentality.
Think about sitting down with this 19 yr old BOY, and explain to him why, what he did was bad enough to totaly destroy his life..explain to him how there is any similarities between him and a true sex offender.... go ahead tell him, you don't think so, but it's just the"law" now... well how the hell do you think the law got here, on the hysteric backs of the "kill 'em all" group... perhaps that group should be the new "group" here... wouldn't that be an oxymoron...
